Japan’s Mainichi Daily News reports that two men have been arrested on charges of stealing 130 copies of the popular Dragon Ball manga from a Yokkaichi bookstore.
Police say the pair stole the first through 34th volumes of the popular series, taking several copies of each during repeat visits to the store. They hid the comics in their shirts.
A store employee became suspicious of the two men, and followed them to write down their license-plate number.
The suspects reportedly told investigators they sold some of the books for “money to spend on amusement items.”
Dragon Ball originally was serialized from 1984 to 1995 in Weekly Shonen Jump, then was collected in 42 books. In 2004, it was re-released as a 34-volume series. It’s unclear from the article which versions were stolen.
Not that it matters, of course. However, I’d give the thieves more credit if they were gunning for the complete set.

That’s pitiful. How much $ could they make from selling those books? If you’re going to steal, steal something more valuable.
