Thanks to everyone who commented last week and helped me find a new comic store in the Bay Area. I ended up going to Lee’s Comics in Mountain View (which incidentally was right around the corner from where I work now), which had its good and bad points … the good being the great selection of comics, the bad being the big dent they left in my wallet, as I ended up buying a bunch of trades from the clearance area as well. It’s a great store with very helpful employees. I look forward to checking out some of your other suggestions in the weeks ahead.
Moving on to this week’s comics … Mike Mignola kicks off a new three-part adventure in Conan #29, featuring ancient ruins and evil frogs. Also from Dark Horse, John Ostrander takes us on a tour of the Star Wars universe a century after Return of the Jedi occurred, with Star Wars: Legacy #1. DC/Wildstorm bring us Claw the Unconquered #1, spinning out of his team-up with Red Sonja. DC also have a book you may or may not have heard about, a little something called Flash:The Fastest Man Alive #1. That ought to be a big book for DC, but Marvel isn’t one to back down from a challenge .. this week not only sees (finally) new issues of Astonishing X-Men and Ultimates 2, but also the first issue of the Neil Gaiman/John Romita Jr. Eternals mini-series. Meanwhile, Image’s Casanova #1, AiT’s Continuity GN and Thom Zahler’s Love and Capes are definitely not to be overlooked.
Let’s hear from the rest of the band about their wants and needs (it’s always about “me,” isn’t it?)
Chris Hunter’s Pick of the Week
The Ultimates 2 #11 - One of the best series being produced, period. Fantastic art, excellent, intriguing writing…just a really bad shipping schedule! Still, this book will be on the top of the reading list this week.
Kevin Melrose’s Picks of the Week
I have two this week: Manhunter #23 and Robin # 151. Although I realize fans of Cassandra Cain have been foaming at the mouth over the current Robin storyline, I’m enjoying how Adam Beechen is writing the Boy Wonder. He’s hit upon a perfect tone for the character, depicting him as smart, wry and capable. Manhunter, meanwhile, is a no-brainer. This is one of the most complex and most interesting books on the stands. It’s gotten a new lease on life — even if it’s guaranteed only for five issues — and deserves more attention (and readers). Buy this book!
Lisa Fortuner’s Picks of the Week
Mine are Flash (I’m actually not worried because I’m not a rational Flash fan, I’ll just be happy to have a Flash running around), All-Star Superman, Birds of Prey and the Essential Savage She-Hulk (Kalinara recommended it).
Stephanie Chan’s Pick of the Week
I want to pick the Metal Gear Solid Digital Comic for PSP, as nothing on the Diamond list is really grabbing me this week.
Tom Bondurant’s Pick of the Week
I’m definitely curious to see the new Flash #1, but honestly I don’t know how good it will be. That’s why I’m picking Sgt. Rock: The Prophecy #6, by Joe Kubert. The story of Easy Company’s trek through a wintry Eastern Front, guarding a boy and a baby, has been great so far, and I can’t wait to see how Kubert wraps it all up.
JK Parkin’s Pick of the Week
My pick is Casanova #1 … it’s tough week, what with a new Neil Gaiman book and a new issue of Astonishing X-Men coming out, but Casanova edges ahead of them based on Matt Fraction’s uncanny writing abilities, Gabriel Bá’s beautiful artwork and a price point that just can’t be beat.
So what are you most looking forward to? Check out the Diamond shipping list for this week and let us know!

Your in California now, JK? I’m about three hours from where you are. (San Jose, right?) Snazzy!

Yeah, right now I’m in Mountain View, looking for a permanent place to live. Morgan Hill is at the top of my list right now (it’ll be a commute to work, but I really liked the area).
Where are you located? I thought you were closer to San Diego.

JK! If you get a chance to stop by Comics Conspiracy (we’re in Sunnyvale), give me a heads up when you come in. I’m here pretty much all the time.
Love the blog

Ima have to put in another vote for Ultimates for this week. Lots and lots of good stuff, but that’s gonna knock out Everything for the top o’the stack spot.

Hey Ryan, I’ll definitely make it a point to stop by in the next couple of weeks!

Hey, thanks for mentioning “Love and Capes”. If you liked that one, you’ll be glad to know #2 will be out for Christmas.
