Ioan Gruffudd, who played Mr. Fantastic in the Fantastic Four flick, spoke about the sequel at a recent charity event for The Children’s Circle, an organization which helps infants and children with HIV:
“I have not seen the script or read it. I don’t know exactly what the story line is. I know Jessica Alba has been talking about it quite a bit and I believe that the premise is Silver Surfer is the new character that comes into it.”
Although Gruffudd has had some time to adjust to the overwhelming success of the first installment of the “Fantastic Four” series, he still can’t believe the film’s popularity. “It’s fantastic. You know it’s beyond our wildest dreams on how it performed in the box office. Obviously personally I’m delighted that we’re going back. Hopefully this one will be successful and we’ll go back for a third one as well after that.”
Animation invasion
Avi Arad, Marvel’s former Hollywood guru, tells IFmagazine.com that Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, The Fantastic Four and Iron Man are all slated to return to the small screen as cartoons. The new Wolverine cartoon, he says, will “be based on the comics.”
Wild cards
Batman-on-film.com has a post up about rumored Bat-villains for the upcoming sequel to Batman Begins, including John Cusack as Harvey Dent and Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, as the Joker. Take it for what it’s worth.
Meanwhile, this site would like to see Sean Penn play the Joker … thanks, Tim.
