Millar becomes Colbert: “Does Marvel have the balls?”

Mark Millar stokes the internet fires, in preparation for this week’s Civil War #2:

“Okay, if Peter doesn’t unmask and become a paid up, publically known member of SHIELD, does this spell the end for Peter and MJ after everything we read in Amazing 532? Joe Q has been hinting at a split for a while now, but will Marvel have the balls to see this through and split them permanently? YES or NO?”

The fans, they’re not a-buyin’ it:

“For awhile? sure. Forever? Heh…nah. That won’t last.”

“Quesada’s already said that a divorced or widowed Spidey would be even further from the character’s original conception than a married one, so as Drew says while I can see a separation used as a plot device, I’d be very surprised to see anything permanent come of it.”

“Honestly, the only way that it would make sense for them to be broken up as a result of this is if she leaves him or is killed. And I don’t think Marvel is going to do either of those.”

“I can see a split in the short term but I can’t see it lasting. (MJ is in the next movie yes?)”
