Sure, go ahead and laugh. But I bet Clark Kent wishes he had one of these: a wearable cell phone booth that you can erect in, I don’t know, seconds!
That’s right, Mr. Kent, no more searching for those old metal booths that went out with the Ford administration. Thanks to the ingenuity of NYU student Jenny Chowdhury, you can have the privacy you need to change into those blue tights … or to call Lois. Or Jimmy. Whichever.
Chowdhury designed the “Cell Atlantic CellBooth” to create the illusion of privacy, and to force the phone user to focus on the conversation.
“How much attention are we really giving the person on the other end when we’re multi-tasking and hurrying towards our next destination?” she writes on her website. “What whould happen if we were forced to stand still while we spoke on the phone? As I grappled with these issues of privacy, personal space and nostalgia for a ’simpler time,’ the idea for portable phone booth was born.”
She needs to rethink that business plan, though. Superheroes should be the target market, not “chatty cathys.”
